I am Andrea Stubbs, a contemporary wood burning artist presently living in Charleston, SC. My artistic process began as a child in NYC, as I was drawn to all things creative. Music, dance, and visual art were my passions, and I was always a little “different” from the other girls on the block. I had the opportunity to attend creative arts camp in Martha’s Vineyard for many of my teenage years and embraced every art, music, and dance class that was available. A self taught artist, always dabbling and sketching. About 25 years ago I was inspired by some drab wooden furniture I’d purchased for my sons, and decided to burn design into the wood. From that came burning design into objects, mostly boxes, containers, frames and ornaments. My latest venture into furniture and wall art has been inspired by music, nature and life experience. The compositions run the gamut from the “real” to the abstract, and have often come to be multi -media works using cloth and wire. My work is primarily sold from my home studio, and often commissioned for custom pieces.
