Artist Bio: "My Art is MY BIRTHMARK." I am a Native (Bahamian & Gullah Geechee) born as Lizette Gary in 1978 in Miami. I've always strived for greater heights and success is a process. Inner recognition is one of the most phenomenal feelings outside of giving birth. I am always progressing, learning, & fighting to be me, which I am not ashamed or afraid of. It's complicated balancing the abstract & realistic world. I create & design for everyone of all ages. I sold my first painting at age 9 & began building canvases at age 11. I was awarded a scholarship at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York in 1995 for Communication Design after graduating from Design & Architecture Senior High D.A.S.H in Miami DesignDistrict in 1996. My signature, dynamic, interactive art in design & fashions are "The Modern Day Hieroglyphics" called ColorSwarm. Colorful, bold, stick-figures representing people worldwide that swarm their canvases celebrating life through dance, good health, love, dining, and storytelling. ColorSwarm represents the law of natural science, culture, honor, respect & enlightenment. Titled & awarded as "Most Interesting Foreign Artist" & "Most Independent Artist" in memorial of Italy's 18th century Artist, Giuseppe De'Nitts in 2003. The first Baye Art Boutique in Italy opened to the public in 2005. Awarded as "Best Visual Artist" by Dr. Marshall Davis of African Heritage Cultural Arts Center & Miami Dade County in 2009. Baye Fashion Show at Gemma Lounge in Lincoln Road Miami Beach in 2010. My Art is Baye Photo-book was published in 2014. Most recently I was able to participate in the Art Exhibition & Poetry Recital (community project) at the Cooper Union Library in Charleston, SC in 2015. These are chosen highlights of Baye's tangible international success. There is so much more to discover.
