Erika Allen paints with a screwdriver. She says she loves experimenting with different mediums and techniques, and most recently she's been working with reclaimed wood and mixed media...and that screwdriver. She says her unusual choice of paintbrush allows her to drip and move the paint around the canvas - and it's easy to clean up.
Originally, from Buffalo, New York, Erika moved to the Carolinas after achieving her BFA. Part gestural abstract, part graffiti, part something all her own - Erika's work have lots of energy. Come see her new pieces at The Mecca this weekend - it's going to be a great time for a Spring stroll! |
