Chuck Whitlock's unique deep-fused glasswork incorporates hand painted enamel images and photographs with ground glass and rolled sheets of specialty glass. One piece of his multilayered glass artwork may take ninety to one hundred hours to kiln fuse in numerous firings , which is one reason why so few warm glass artists tackle and successfully execute such work. Despite the high cost of the raw materials and the looming possibility of failure in a pieces that's taken so long to create, Whitlock continues to stretch the boundaries of his artistic endeavors.
Whitlock is able to use a client's photograph in his deep fused artwork or photograph a special scene for a commissioned piece of art. To complement his glasswork, Whitlock adds dramatic stone, hand carved wood, or handmade metal bases.
