Luke is a 21-year-old emerging painter in Charleston with a voracious artistic appetite. His work intertwines surrealism and cartoon-inspiration in a way that can instill fantastical whimsy into even the most sober of scenes.
"I remember it like it was yesterday, I was adding my finishing touches to what was my greatest masterpiece yet. Delicately pecking the final dabs of paint from my tiny three-year old fingers, I decided that my pyschopathic-looking rendition of Winnie the Pooh had finally reached completion. Needless to say, I've come quite a long way since then. I began working as a caricature artist after my second year of high school, but I spent most of my school days drawing, anyway. It's no wonder that class was such a struggle for me, considering I had more doodles of my teachers accounted for than actual class notes. It quickly became clear to me that if I didn't spend my life dedicated to art, then I wouldn't be fulfilling my soul-purpose that I've known all along. In 2014 I began my career as a freelance painter and in January, 2015 I joined my first art gallery, The Art Mecca of Charleston. No experience in my life has been more fulfilling than to see my passion begin to flourish before the public eye. I have high hopes to live up to the standard set by many of my greatest artistic inspirations... and maybe even become an inspiration to others, myself. The intricate painting that I call my life finally seems to be rendering some vague forms, but it is incredibly far from complete. I have a lot to learn, but through hard-work (and a ton of paint) I hope to make into a masterpiece."
